Korean pop culture, in numbers

Who stays at the top of the ladder

Win rate says how hard a tier is. It does not say how often the people in it change. Riot marks two things we have never used: which players are long-standing in their tier, and which are on a winning streak. Collected 2026-08-06 at 22:00 KST.

Korea’s top is the most settled. North America’s turns over hardest.

Korea — long-standing challengers54%162 of 300. The highest of the six, on every day measured.18.7% are on a hot streak.
North America — the mirror36.8%111 of 302 long-standing, the lowest — while 30.8% are on a hot streak, the highest. Fewer settled players, more players surging.

The two columns move against each other. Where fewer players are settled, more are climbing — which is what churn looks like when you only get to see one night of it. Korea sits at one end of both, North America at the other, and the four regions between them line up in the same order on each measure.

Long-standing share, every day we have measured

Percent of challengers. 4 days — a check that the ordering holds, not a trend.

Korea is highest on all 4 days and North America lowest on all 4. 2026-08-05 is missing — the collection key expired, and a ladder cannot be rebuilt afterwards, so the day is gone rather than filled in.

Three measures, one direction

This is the third thing we have counted about the same six ladders. They do not disagree.

Three different fields of the same nightly call, pointing the same way. That is worth stating and worth not over-stating: these are three views of one population, not three independent confirmations, and none of them explains why.
